Calculating the resist size you need can often be a headache, so we have done it for you with this simple chart. In the yellow box on the grid is the finished width/length sizes from 5 inches to 36 inches. Decide what shrinkage you are allowing for and the resist size is listed below.
For example - if you are making a hat with a finished circumference of 22 and and you are using a merino roving with 40% shrinkage rate. Look for the number 22 in the yellow box and look under the 40% shrinkage box for your resist width, which is 37 inches. Don't forget to half it if you are using a flat resist!
